Spike Talk

Community Guidelines

The iSpike community is a supportive space for people living with diabetes and those who care for them. By joining, you agree to these rules. There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

  1. 1. Share experiences, not prescriptions

Talk about what works for you — your meals, carb counts and results. Never tell someone else how much insulin to take, or to stop or change prescribed treatment. Dose changes belong with your diabetes care team.

  2. 2. Be kind — zero tolerance for abuse

No harassment, bullying, hate speech, threats, sexual content or shaming anyone about their weight, food or control. Objectionable content and abusive users are removed.

  3. 3. Keep personal details private

Use a display name, not your real name. Don't share phone numbers, emails, addresses or anyone else's details. Links aren't allowed.

  4. 4. No spam or selling

No adverts, supplements, 'miracle cures', affiliate links, referral codes or promotions. No selling or swapping medicines, insulin or sensors, no money-making or investment offers, and no asking people to contact you on other apps. Posts are limited to 500 characters and replies to 280, and swearing is filtered automatically.

  5. 5. Look after yourself

If you are feeling unwell, have a hypo you can't treat, or are having thoughts of self-harm, contact emergency services (999 in the UK) or your care team — the community is not monitored in real time.

  6. 6. Report and block

Use the ⋯ menu on any post or reply to report it or block the person. Reported content is reviewed by the iSpike team within 24 hours, and content with several reports is hidden automatically.

How we moderate. Every post and reply is automatically screened before it is published. Members can report content or block other members at any time. Reported content is reviewed by the iSpike team within 24 hours; content with several reports is hidden automatically. We remove content that breaks these rules and suspend members who break them.

Medical disclaimer. Posts are personal experiences from other members, not medical advice. iSpike does not verify them. Always follow the advice of your diabetes care team.
